Have you ever watched Gilmore Girls? Do you remember (and here goes a super long list of the most memorable moments, characters, places, dialogues- of course you do!) the inn that Lorelai ran? The Independence Inn, where she was the manager, and then Dragonfly Inn, where she was the owner too? A hotel, with a high level of familiarity that implies that you are a long awaited friend yet as not a member of this family we will give you a healthy dose of privacy? Do you remember the elaborate (and sometimes too overwhelming to my taste) decorations in the main reception and the sitting area? Ariel House in Dublin might be just the reincarnation of the famous inn from Stars Hollow! With not one, but two Lorelais!
Ariel House is a Victorian guesthouse situated about 25 minute (brisk) walk from the city centre. It is located in a quiet area so if you’re not a Temple Bar kind of a person- this place will tick all the boxes for you. Tastefully designed bedrooms, some funky furniture, a kettle to make yourself a cuppa, a well- equipped bathroom. If you wish to meet some other residents of the hotel, you can grab a cup of coffee in the afternoon in the sitting area.
Greeted by Lorelai no. 1 we dropped off our bags and as it was still too early to check in we went to explore the city. They did price match, made the check in later on super smooth and quick and ensured that our stay was as comfortable as it could be.
What attracted me to this hotel (apart from the location) is food (obviously!). Ariel House boasts as one of the best places in Dublin when it comes to breakfast. And since breakfast is a staple meal and cannot be skipped (no way) then you need to make sure that it is a good one. With very attentive waiting staff and the plethora of delicious cereals, jams, scones, pastries…I had to try quite a few things including potato cakes- all in all, we were in Ireland!
Comfy beds, delicious breakfast, great location, good value for money. If you are planning a trip to Dublin, check out this place and book in advance as it fills up pretty quickly. You can book it here: Ariel House. Enjoy Dublin!
